Promote It…And They Will Come

Promote It…And They Will Come

The Multi-Cultural Family Festival was held at Bayswater Michaelis Park last weekend, and although it rained consistently throughout the day, the event will forever be remembered as an illustration of sheer will and dedication to community service. The weather did nothing to deter police officers from firing up the grill and serving hamburgers and hot dogs to the many who braved the cool temperatures and "liquid sunshine." The fact that so many people came out to support the event, in a torrential downpour at times, is proof that if something positive is promoted in the community, and is for the community, they will attend in large numbers. While those who helped to make the event possible deserve a certain degree of praise, the highest praise should go to all of the "Blue Knights" who took part. It was not easy keeping the fires going in the rain, or passing out "Blue Soggies" (the burgers made by police officers), but they did because the people kept coming. We salute them and all community residents who cared enough to take part. Let’s hope that many other events like this one (minus the rain) will be held in the near future.
