The International Gift Show was tremendous this year……not only did it take up the entire Javits Center, two Piers (92 and 94) but the Gift showrooms on Fifth Ave. as well. How much can one cover especially when you are blinded by the gorgeous sparking jewels on display. Though jewelry was well represented, there were many, many other items also. I wandered up to the Kids Stuff in the Javits Gallery one day and came across new products from" Pockets of Learning", those tote-able colorful cloth made cases that house animals and such in little pockets. Another was the Imagiix Co. that just launched their newest item, Deedle Dudes that dance to music and automatically put a smile on your face. And, isn’t that what we all need in the sorry state our world is in? If you watched my "Appetizer of News" segment this past week you saw me demonstrating these adorable happy creatures.

That reminds me that my "Travels in Style to Germany" show aired this past Sunday at 10:30PM on UHF Ch. 39 and I want to thank all who watched and also for your calls and comments. They were all very favorable and some even said they loved it. If, you missed this "Three Magic Cities in Germany" show it will be aired again sometime in October and November since it covered Christmas Markets in Germany. I’ll be sure to notify you.

The gal who wrote in to the Rockaway Point News with a suggestion to rebuild the Colony Theatre for a movie house had the right idea. Not only is a movie house desperately needed but it could still be used for the Teen Show, which was a huge success again this year. My congratulations to Director/Choreographer Maryellen, her staff and all of the children in the cast. Their anniversary party with all past performers was fabulous, too, I heard. It is all the people who volunteer their time that makes the Breezy Pointers, and all who live from Fort Tilden West so special.

Congratulations are due to the newly elected officers of the Breezy Point Cooperative, especially Steven Greenberg, Chairman and Thomas Welsh, first term President. With these two men of distinction at the helm the Cooperative can look forward to great achievements. Other officers who should get recognition: Kevin Reilly , 1st V.P. and Asst. Secty.; Kevin Buckley, Vice President and General Manager. Limited space prohibits the entire list. But my best to all.

Gladys Crowley is proud and delighted her grandson, John, son of her son John in Florida, married his Karen last weekend in a simple wedding in Florida where they will reside in wedded bliss.

September 1 you will find Ed Deacy singing his heart out at Kennedy’s . Ed has several great CD’s on the market. His most popular are the Irish numbers. Come and see and hear him at Kennedy’s on that Sunday.

Claire Hughes in Guys and Dolls and Shirley Hanrahan in women’s singles are stars again on the B.P.S.C. Bocci Court. They are both a few strokes away from the winner’s circle. When is the Breezy Point Bocci team going to challenge the players at the B.P.S.C.??

Cantor Fitzgerald Co. had a blast of a beach party (tent and all) on the Bay this past weekend for the families of victims lost at the Trade Center tragedy.

Barbara Fudge and her traveling companion, Helen Clemente returned from a fabulous trip to Alaska and told me they had the time of their lives and would love to go back again………this time for a longer potion on the cruise. They opted this time for more land touring and found the countryside fascinating, but the cruise ship more luxurious. Barbara especially enjoyed the celebration of her birthday on board with cake and singing really special.

Boarded the Norwegian Sea cruise liner for a tour and lunch. This is a smaller ship than the new mega ship afloat today. It is cozier, and more intimate, more to my liking, but the best thing of all it has all the lounges and amenities as the other larger ships. You can still take advantage of FREE Styling meals, eat when and with whom you choose, informal or casual as the case may be. Our lunch was superb. I can honestly say the food is superior. An appetizer of crab cakes followed by a crusted domed cream of mushroom soup and the Chilean sea bass was out of this world. And a delicious chocolate cake put the finishing touches on the meal nicely. If you like smaller ships where you can really get to know people this is the ship for you.
