Memories of Dr. King

Memories of Dr. King

Always enjoy reading G-Man’s column, especially his writing about Martin Luther King, Jr.

It brought back many fond memories with my associations with Dr. King. We attended many meetings together in helping Local 1199, pharmacists union, in unionizing the hospitals. He had great compassion for the downtrodden workers who were making only $50 a week in the 1950’s.

Dr. King was on the picket line when we organized the first hospital in Charlotte, S.C.

All our efforts and hard work were rewarding as future delegate meetings was attended by well-dressed members who were able to stay off welfare and could afford to raise nice families.
