A Poem For Phil

A Poem For Phil

For Phil....

How do you measure a man?

By his deeds or his misdeeds?
  By the many times he failed
   Or the few he succeeded?

By the amount of goods he left behind,

Or, the amount of good memories?

I'm not sure, but there must be a way to measure him up by the depth of grieving;

The sheer volume of tears;
  The piles of crumpled wet tissues;
  The great, overwhelming sadness that lingers for so long after he's gone.

Philip Edward Koprowski, 9-25-51 to 7-20-02, rest in peace.
