This is the season in New York when all the fall and winter styles are previewed for the buyers in all the stores. Menswear was in town last week at the Piers and the trend is "Back to Business"…enough of" Casual Fridays". The only exception is, on some occasions, open shirt collars without a tie. In the coming months some colorful shirts, ties and sweaters will be shown on my TV " Appetizer of News segments on WNYX-TV Monday through Friday.

Also watch for the beautiful jewelry discovered at the International Jewelry Show at the Javits Center. Most unusual is the wish pearl that is packaged an unopened oyster enclosed in water in a separate compartment ready for you to open and then be placed in the boxed pendant on a chain for your wearing. Very unique and will be demonstrated by me on WNYX-TV next week.

There were two fundraisers for MS (Muscular Dystrophy) last week: One big huge event at the Intrepid Museum on the Hudson whereby donors covered the main deck and enjoyed the food, refreshments and music. On the Flight deck above more guests danced the night away while enjoying more food, martinis, beer and whatever else you desired. Last night at the Bridgewater’s Museum at the South Street Seaport, Sabor! A taste of Latin America held a" tasting " of the finest restaurants in NYC and a live and silent auction to benefit Muscular Dystrophy. Don’t be left out of these fabulous parties to help this worthwhile cause. The MS Association is at West 74th St. in New York. Give them a call and help while you join in all the festivities.

George Angle and his girlfriend, Diana Feliciano, just returned from a wonderful tour of Canada. Their main destinations were Ottawa and Kingston. George tells me he loved Kingston, a small town similar to Breezy Point where the people are friendly and gracious and you get more buck for the dollar. They found interesting sights to see such as: the Thousand Islands. Though Ottawa is a beautiful city, it was expensive and too much like New York City. Kingston delighted them both and they urge you to visit that town in Canada some time. Glad you had a fun time, George.

Henry O’Meara and his darling little daughter, Mary Kate are year round residents of Breezy Point, formerly of Brooklyn. Mary Kate told me she just loves the summers here.

Coney Island Cyclones have blown into our town with gusto. It seems they fill the new Brooklyn Stadium to the rafters. It almost reminds me of the years of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Cyclones may not be the most winning team, but the spirit and enthusiasm of the spectators behind them can’t be beaten. A group of the KCB’s (Kennedy’s Corner Bachelors) or Crime Busters, if you prefer, will be back at the park again this week to stir them on to a hopeful victory. One of these days they may surprise us.

Coach Summer Cocktails was a refreshing and elegant cocktail" Party in the Garden" at Cooper Hewitt Museum filled with the elite of Manhattan. "The Donald" (Trump, that is) was there with his gorgeous, gorgeous, slim, trim, tall, model girlfriend. Celebs and Anchor people were all around and one couldn’t help but feel very special among them. Coach Leather Co. sponsored the affair for their corporate customers and VIPs.

An invitation only party to raise funds for Adopt-A-Classroom benefiting under-served schools in NYC was held at Tourneau’s Time Machine on 57th Street. Donald Trump and Hampton’s Magazine hosted Invicta Watch Company’s launch. Invicta Watches, a century old brand, was reintroduced in 1991 with the goal of producing the best high quality products and designs, at the most reasonable prices. They will be donating a portion of the sales of their watches at all Tourneau Watch Gear stores from July 30th to December 31st to "Adopt -A- Classroom".
