Retired Teacher

Charles F.X. Fitzpatrick was a lifetime member of the Belle Harbor community, before moving to Kew Gardens, who passed away on July 23, 2002.

Charles worshipped at St. Francis de Sales Church and was a retired teacher. He spent many summers as a lifeguard on the beaches of Rockaway. Charles also was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, who served during World War II.

He is survived by his son, Brian Fitzpatrick; daughter, Tracy Iscove; brothers, Thomas, Paul and William F; and granddaughter, Celine Fitzpatrick.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Cemetery.

Francis L. Gallagher, Sr.
Loved By Many

Francis L. Gallagher, Sr. died on July 23, 2002 at the age of 93.

Francis is survived by his wife, Catherine (nee Michels); children, Mary Meade, Drury, Frank, Cathy Egan, Tommy, Toni Schmeelk, and Peter and Patti Arenberg; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home on July 26, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.

A special mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church on July 27 at 9:45 a.m.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Samuel Ginsberg
Auto Salesman

Samuel Ginsberg, a 27-year resident of Rockaway, died on July 10, 2002 at the age of 92.

Samuel worked as an auto salesman for most of his life. He was part of, and worked closely with, several clubs (organizations), which include the Dayton Towers East-Senior Citizens Club, where he served as President for 20 years; Temple Israel; and the Golda Meir Chapter of Hadassah.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam; his children, Phyllis Vogel, and Dan and Allen Ginsberg; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Molly Seewald and Sara Ostrom.

Interment under the direction of Gutterman Funeral Home of Rockville Centre was held at New Montifore Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.

Philip E. Koprowski
Rockaway Park Resident

Philip E. Koprowski, born in Brooklyn, was a 17-year resident of Rockaway Park who died on July 20, 2002.

Philip is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Koprowski and Anne (nee Klebroski) Koprowski; and brother, Edward Koprowski.

He is survived by his wife, Vinette (nee Fiore) Koprowski; son, Joseph Koprowski; and sister, Annie Graves.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at Greenwood Cemetery.

Kathleen I. McAuliffe
Retired Supervisor-AT&T

Kathleen I. McAuliffe, a long time Rockaway resident, coming from Brooklyn, passed away on July 23, 2002.

Kathleen worshipped at St. Thomas More Church and attended O.L.P.H. Grammar School in Brooklyn. She was a member of the Pioneers of AT&T.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John M. McAuliffe; and son, John S.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph M. and Patrick; and sisters, Bernadette McGuire and Geraldine.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery.

Flornell Thompson Myers
Surfside Manor Employee

Flornell Thompson Myers, born in Harlem, was a long time member of the Ocean Village community who passed away on July 13, 2002 at the age of 48.

Flornell attended elementary and intermediate schools in the Bronx and Fashion High School in Manhattan before moving to Rockaway. She worshipped at Macedonia Baptist Church, and was a 15-year employee of Surfside Manor in Far Rockaway.

She is preceded in death by her father, David Thompson, Sr., and her son, Herbie Lee, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Myers Philippe, Troy Christopher Myers, Shaunquell Rogers, Flornell Ebony Rogers, and Aylsa Bernadine Rogers; mother, Flory Thompson; son-in-law, Jacksem Philippe, Sr.; sister, Theresa Thompson; brothers, David, Melvin and Michael Thompson; six grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; five uncles; three aunts; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Interment under the direction of Woodside Funeral Home was held at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park in Staten Island.

Arthur Parker
Retired Truck Driver

Arthur Parker, a long time Far Rockaway resident, died on July 23, 2002.

Arthur worshipped at St. Rose of Lima Church and was a retired truck driver with the Landsdale Trucking Company. He was a veteran of the military, and belonged to the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee O'Malley) Parker; and daughters, Frances Schram and Dorothy Valdez.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy Fernandez; 7 grandchildren, William, Doreen, Michael, Linda, Steven, Kim and Frank; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. will be held at Long Island National Cemetery.

Charles J. Stamler
Key Food Employee

Charles J. Stamler, born in New York City, died on July 22, 2002.

Charles worshipped at St. Camillus Church and was employed as a warehouse worker for the Key Food Company. He was also a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stamler; son, Gregg C. Stamler; daughter, Karen Tracy; and grandson, Eric C. Stamler.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.

Nora M. Walls
Dearly Missed

Nora M. (nee Sheehan) Walls, formerly of Greenpoint, passed away on July 19, 2002.

Nora was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #8540 in Roxbury.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel, John, Jeremiah (Joe), and Virginia Sheehan.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick J.; children, Kathleen Reardon, Noreen Tyburczy, and Nancy De Sena; and grandchildren, Jamie and Jack De Sena, and Norah and Molly Tyburczy.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at Calvary Cemetery.
