This Is For The Victims

This Is For The Victims

The Wave has been inundated with letters and Emails of praise from readers in the Rockaway community and abroad over our on-going coverage of the Flight 587 case. While the major media has chosen to ignore the story, for whatever reason, the editorial staff of The Wave feels that this is a story that must be taken seriously, and that certain government entities must be held accountable in the so-called investigation. Yes, as journalists we have lingering questions regarding the crash, but our quest for answers pale in comparison to the families of the victims that were on Flight 587 and on the ground. Imagine how much pain they're in and how much they have suffered after nearly nine months of silence by the NTSB. We feel their pain, and as a community newspaper, and as journalists, we have decided to take an active role in searching for the truth. Will we ever find out what really happened to bring the plane down, who knows? However, one thing is certainly clear. The longer this story is kept alive, and pressure is placed on government, the better the chances that the victims and their families will finally be able to find peace.
