American Legion Needs Gifts and Help

American Legion Needs Gifts and Help

The Daniel M. O’Connell Post 272 of The American Legion will be holding "Everybody’s Birthday Party for Disabled Veterans" on Sunday, July 21 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and they are looking for help.

Approximately seventy patients, forty from St. Albans Rehab, and another thirty from St. Albans Home Care, are expected to attend the gathering, which will include a seven course sit-down dinner.

For many years this program has been one of the most successful disabled veterans’ parties thanks to the cooperation of the many friends of Howard and Sandie Doremus, Bill and Tina Walsh, as well as Post members.

Gifts of gloves, scarves, hats, stockings, shirts, underwear, etc. are needed and can be dropped off at The Post on B. 92 Street.

They could use some young veterans or their friends to help wheel the disabled up the ramp. Anyone wishing to help as an entertainer or as a waiter should give Post 272 a call.
