Keyspan Family Night Features ‘Zooperstars’
Keyspan Family Night
Peninsula Hospital Center invites all Rockaway residents to be a part of Family Night with the Brooklyn Cyclones at Keyspan Park, where there will "be surprises, contests, a chance for fame and a great time guaranteed for all," according to event coordinators.
As part of a fundraising effort for its new medical oncology unit, Peninsula Hospital is hosting a night of minor league baseball on July 31 at 7 p.m., making available some of the hottest tickets in town at rock bottom prices.
Last year’s event was a complete sell-out with over 200 people having to be turned away. Cyclones’ games are perennial sell-outs (every ticket for this season’s games is already sold out) and this may be your only opportunity to get great seats and help with a great cause.
The hospital provides reserved grandstand tickets for just $6 – the regular low box office price -- on a first-come, first-served basis. Any donation you make above and beyond that will go directly into helping fund the hospital’s oncology unit, assisting men, women and children being treated for cancer.
Don’t be disappointed this year. Get tickets for you and your family early; share in the fun while helping a great cause. As an extra incentive, the first 2,500 children, age 14 and under, to arrive at the park will also receive a free Cyclones pennant.
As part of the evening’s excitement, youngsters and adults will have a unique chance to be a part of the game, to meet the players, stand on the field and to show off their singing talents to the thousands at the game. Additionally, one of the Cyclones’ most popular attractions, Zooperstars, will also be on hand to lend even more laughs to the event.
Zooperstars are huge, curious costumed creatures -- loosely based on your most popular sports superstars. They will be there throughout the game to cavort with young and old in the stands, with lots of surprises, and to make the night even more special.
In a unique opportunity to show off your singing skills, two individuals will have the chance to take to center field to lead the crowd in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner at the game’s opening or God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch.
To be considered for this honor, prior to the game night, you must submit an audio or videotape highlighting your talents singing either of the two songs that will be performed on game day. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, July 10.
Remember, this chance for stardom is available only when you purchase your tickets through Peninsula Hospital.
Any youngster, who is a member of any organized sporting league, can be named a Peninsula All Star and get the thrill of meeting the players before the game and being allowed onto the actual playing field.
All a child need do is write a short essay on why they feel they would make a good Peninsula All Star. A limited number of children will be selected for this honor, so send in your entries soon; deadline for the entries is July 10.
Entries for either the singing competition or the Peninsula All-Stars should be sent to Peninsula Hospital Center, Public Affairs Office, 51-15 Beach Channel Drive, Far Rockaway, New York 11691. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 718-734-2506.
