Talented Local Continuing At Penn State

Danielle D. Bishop, daughter of Jadonnia Bishop, recently graduated from George Washington High School in Brooklyn where she majored in pre-engineering. Her studies will continue at Penn State University.

Some of the awards received by Danielle were a New York State Academic Excellence Scholarship Award of $1,500, the Lego Robotics Competition Medallion for participation, First Robotics Competition Rookie-All Star 2000 Award, Bunton Waller Scholarship, and NY Public Library "Excellence in Scholarship" Award. She was also named Class Valedictorian.

From 1999 to now Danielle’s work experience has involved a RICOH Best Program project of constructing and maintaining three full size robots.

She served as Editor-in-Chief of the school yearbook, and as President of the John F. Kennedy Chapter of the National Honor Society at George Washington High School.

Some of the many activities Danielle has been involved with include organizing Children’s Festivals, participating in New York City Penny Harvest’s Ton-a-Thon, initiating and organizing the Tutoring Center at school, as well as being Captain of the Robotics team, Varsity Volleyball and Softball teams.

Danielle appeared in The Wave when she graduated from IS 53 Astre program. At that time her many accomplishments included being a past performer in Positively Positive Entertainment for Kids program and performing in an off-Broadway production of "Celebration," being inducted in The National Honor Society, and earning the Governor’s Awards for excellence in science, math, scholarship and citizenship.
