Proposed Peace in the Middle East

Proposed Peace in the Middle East

President Bush is expected to outline his Middle East peace plan before the end of the week, a plan which will reportedly include a proposal for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Rep. Anthony Weiner released the following statement:

"At a time of unprecedented violence and bloodshed, and a constant stream of suicide bombers, the first priority of the Bush Administration and peaceful nations everywhere should be to end the onslaught. Now is not a time for diplomacy. Now is the time for a full exercise of the Bush doctrine- finding terrorists and rooting them out."

"A U.S. led proposal for a Palestinian state rewards the very terrorists we seek to punish. There can be no doubt that there is a constructive American role in achieving peace in the Middle East, but the timing in this case couldn’t be worse. Bush should hold his fire on the proposed peace plan, and continue his unequivocal war on terrorism."
