Brush up on your movie trivia! Beginning each "Movies by Moonlight" evening will be a fun, fact-packed movie trivia quiz. Rumble through the clutter that is your mind to recall some favorite memories of films past. Laud it over your friends and family that you remember more than they do about recent and not so recent flicks. Then settle back and enjoy a couple of clever, amusing shorts followed by the main features – classic films in the classic setting of a bright starry night. You know the dates and times, right? OK, the reminder –

  • Friday, June 21: "Some Like It Hot" directed by Billy Wilder. Starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. Wit, style and three of the best pairs of legs in Hollywood.
  • Saturday, June 22: "The Wizard of Oz" directed by Victor Fleming. Starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr and some of the finest character actors who ever lived. Experience the magic of this film as it was meant to be experienced – on a large screen. There’s nothing like it. Each evening starts @ 8:45 p.m.

You know that commercial that shows the young boy and his dad at the ballgame and says that the experience is "priceless"? Well, come enjoy the experience of community and family at "Movies by Moonlight." Even though it’s free, it’s "priceless."

RAA Building Fund Benefit: Friday, June 28. 7-11 p.m. @ Pier 92 Restaurant. Sure, you know you’re coming but we don’t. So send those checks in ASAP, because seating is limited. Help support the organization that brings you community events like "Movies by Moonlight" and Camp kidsmART and stunning exhibitions like "Essence of Light" and the RAA exhibitions in Art Frenzy. If you’ve been to sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 you know how much has been done and how much still needs to be done. Help support community. Admission to the benefit is $50 per person (or more, if you wish to extend your generosity even further). Send checks, payable to RAA, to 260 Beach 116 Street, Rockaway Park, NY 11694. Join the family of RAA for an evening of music and art-filled fun, dancing, great food, great friendship and more. Wine, beer and soda will be served. See you there.

Thank you to the Brooklyn Watercolor Society for joining RAA this past Saturday for a very successful afternoon of painting in among the dunes of Fort Tilden. We are hoping that this is just the first of collaborations between these two talented groups of artists.

You are cordially invited to attend an opening reception at the World Fine Art Gallery on Friday, July 12 from 6-8 p.m. for an exhibition featuring photographer Michael Deutsch. Exhibition dates are July 5-27. Gallery hours are 12-6 PM, Tuesday-Saturday. The gallery is located in Manhattan at 511 West 25th Street, Suite 803.

Have you seen the beautifully renovated grocery on the corner of Newport Avenue and 116th Street? Watch for "magic" coming soon to its exterior wall on Newport Avenue. Won’t tell you what it is, yet. Guess you’ll just have to keep watching.
