By Howard Schwach

The Rockaway Park Station on the A line will soon get "major renovations," according to a recent statement by transit officials.

The Beach 116 Street station will be one of ten stations citywide and the only station in Queens slated for the renovation.

"These stations are all congested and all provide a vital link to their respective communities," said a TA spokesperson. "All of the stations chosen for the renovation have deteriorated over the years."

The project is expected to total more than $146 million for the ten stations. The renovation will include new walkways, installing new lighting, repairs to the infrastructure and reconfiguring the entrances and exits to the street.
