Local Participates in Mock-War Exercise

Army National Guard Pfc. Tamika Smith, daughter of Priscilla Smith of Far Rockaway, participated in a mock-war, Warfighter 2002 exercise termed "Urgent Victory" in Wiesbaden, Germany.

More than 9,000 Army and Air Force members were involved in the primarily computer-generated war fighting exercise. Army V Corps soldiers provided ground forces, air defense artillery firepower, communications, radar and satellite imagery, and command and control operations in war-like scenarios. The exercise’s strategic, operational and tactical maneuvers required support from intelligence, plans/operations, logistics/supply, as well as personnel/administrative units. Unit service members worked together to complete mission objectives, which included identifying, tracking down, and defeating enemy forces in the simulated war.

Smith is an administrative specialist.
