On Wednesday evening, July 10, The Wave will host a meeting of all those who saw American Airlines Flight 587 in the air prior to its crash. We are sponsoring the meeting at the Beach Club on Beach 116 Street at 7:30 p.m. as a public service. Many residents have indicated that they saw smoke or flame coming from the plane prior to its crash. While the western portion of the Arverne Urban Renewal Area is slated for 2,300 homes, the future of the eastern portion of the site, from Beach 35 Street to Beach 62 Street, is literally up in the air. There has been talk of a golf course, a park, and various other amenities.
