On Wednesday evening, July 10, The Wave will host a meeting of all those who saw American Airlines Flight 587 in the air prior to its crash. We are sponsoring the meeting at the Beach Club on Beach 116 Street at 7:30 p.m. as a public service. Many residents have indicated that they saw smoke or flame coming from the plane prior to its crash. We hope that others from Brooklyn and Howard Beach, who also saw the plane in trouble, will attend as well. More ... One of the best things about warm weather is seeing the children play outdoors. It's easy to see that they love being free of heavy, bulky outerwear. It's so much easier for them to play ball while they're wearing tee shirts, jeans and no jacket. In the early part of spring, it's fun to see how much kids have grown over the winter; later in the season it's nice to see how all that exercise keeps them so healthy and strong! More ... Lorraine and Frank Radice summer residents of Roxbury, celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on June 1with family and friends at the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. John Bosco Church in Cunningham, Pa. Tugboat film screening to kick-off Queens Council on the Arts' Art Frenzy weekend festival! Free and open to the public, the screening is on Friday, June 7 at 9 p.m. Invited by the Rockaway Artists Alliance, the Tugboat Film and Video Series will present 7 selected film and video shorts at Riis Landing. The tugboat (with screen) will pull up to the landing while the audience sits on shore enjoying the film and the scenery. Tugboat Film and Video Series uses maritime vessels and structures such as boats, barges and bridges for screenings and art venues. More ...
