Popularize Senior Centers

Popularize Senior Centers

Dear Editor;

If the Rockaway Senior Citizen wants to keep their center open, then, they must popularize them. New York City is presently undergoing a budget crunch. We do not want Mayor Bloomberg to focus his eyes on our center as an example of closure.

For all those who are alone, living with your partner, recovering from an illness, the center, and our home away from home has an open door during its operating hours as an incentive encouraging you to participate in its varied activities. There is entertainment, dancing games people play, discussions of worldwide news as well as a nourishing lunch.

I have often mentioned that our seniors are knowledgeable, well-spoken, well read, and vote.

Finally, if you want your centers to remain OPEN, Popularize Them. It is all up to you. Mayor Bloomberg, make life pleasurable for the older adult. We have worked most of our lives; it's time to enjoy.
