G-man's Right, But...

Dear Editor;

I do, on the whole, agree with Gary Toms' column of June 1, 2002. Bill Bradley was and is the better candidate. However, your statement "I know that he was New Jersey's leader when the issue of racial profiling came to light..." is innately incorrect. Mr. Bradley was never the "leader" of New Jersey, and the last time I looked the Governor of a state is considered its leader. All representatives of a given state ostensibly report to the Governor. So whether you hold him accountable or not, it's the Governor at the time of the profiling that must be held accountable. Of course the Governor of New Jersey, who should be held accountable, is now the chief policy maker for environmental issues on the Federal level. I'm sure the same dedication and sensitivity she showed while frisking an African-American for the photographers will once again show through.
