Edward J. O' Hare, Sr.
Korean War Veteran

Edward J. O' Hare, also known as "Red", born in Hell' s Kitchen, New York, was a long time resident of Broad Channel. He passed away on May 20, 2002, at the age of 72, after a long illness.

Edward was a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion Post 1404 and VFW Post 260 in Broad Channel.

He spent his summers in Rockaway and in Marcell' s Court until moving to Rockaway 40 years ago.

He is survived by his wife Janet (nee Hillman); his children, Daniel McIntyre, Jeannemarie Reinshagen, Edward Jr., Joseph, Robert and Vincent; his grandchildren Christopher, Jessica, Kristen. Katie, Ryan and Joey; and his sister, Madeline O' Hare.

Interment under the direction of Hillebrand Funeral Homes, Inc. was held at Calvary Cemetery.

Those who would like to make donations in memory of Edward J. O' Hare, Sr. may do so through the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department (BCVFD) Building Fund.

Robert Coffman
Letter Carrier

Robert Coffman, born in Brooklyn, New York, was a 40-year resident of Rockaway Beach who passed away on May 22, 2002.

Robert was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, and worked out of the Far Rockaway Post Office. He was also a veteran of the military.

He is survived by many loving friends.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.

Stacey Howell
Fleet Bank Employee

Stacey Howell was a long time resident of the Far Rockaway community before relocating to Dutchess County, New York. She died on May 19, 2002 at the age of 27.

Stacey was employed with Fleet Bank.

She is survived by her son, David Byrd, Jr.; her brothers, Melvin K. Howell, Jahlive Howell, and Jame Christian; her sisters, Nina, Bianca and Crystal Christian; her grandparents, Clara and Frank Berry; her great-grandmother, Julia Hillard; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Interment under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Home was held at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, New York.

Andrew Inserra
Sanitation Worker

Andrew Inserra, born in Brooklyn, New York was a 27-year resident of Rockaway Point who died on May 23, 2002.

Andrew worshipped at St. Thomas More Church and was a sanitation worker for Breezy Point Carting.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Annette (nee Abruzzo) Inserra.

He is survived by his daughters, Lorraine Baker and Lynda Connelly; and five grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O Connor, Inc was held at St. Charles Cemetery.

Brian J. Longmore
Manager

Brian J. Longmore, born in Brooklyn, New York was a 4-year resident of the Belle Harbor community. He died on May 28, 2002.

Brian worshipped at St. Francis de Sales Church and was a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Longmore and Ann Marie (nee Holmes) Longmore.

He is survived by his brothers, William, James, Gerard and Joseph Longmore; his sister, Ann Marie Longmore; and his nieces, Rae Ann and Emily.

Visitation will take place at Denis S. O Connor Funeral Home on May 31, from 2-5 and 7-10 p.m.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O Connor, Inc will be held at St. Johns Cemetery on June 1.

Frank McNamara
Clerical Accountant

Frank McNamara, born in Brooklyn, New York was a long time Rockaway resident before moving to Staten Island. He passed away on May 27, 2002.

Frank worshipped at St. Francis de Sales and worked as a clerical accountant for UPS. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 272 and the Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his brother, John McNamara; and his sister, Eileen Trobota.

He is survived by his wife, Rita (nee Curran) McNamara; his daughter, Eileen Hergen and husband George; his brother, Robert McNamara; and his grandson, James Hergen.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O Connor, Inc. was held at Calverton Cemetery.

Dennis Ross, Jr. III
Construction Worker

Dennis Ross, Jr. III was a life long member of the Far Rockaway community who died on May 7, 2002.

Dennis attended P.S. 105Q, Junior High School 198 and Beach Channel High School in Far Rockaway. He later went on to work in the construction industry.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ross, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Cole; his daughters, DeNaysia, DeAsia, Khadijah; his son, DeNaz; his fiancé, Rashida Anderson; his sisters, Sandra Johnson and Tanya Quarles; his brothers, Lovie Cole, Lonnie and Melvin; his nephews, Barkim, Takim, and Davon; his niece, TaShonna; his God-sister, Deidre Howell; his close friends, Arnold Higger and Tyreek Butler; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Interment under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Home was held in Butler, Georgia.

Danmar Arvin Sitjar
Auto Mechanic

Danmar Arvin Sitjar, born in the Philippines, was a 10-year resident of the Far Rockaway community who died on May 25, 2002.

Danmar was employed as an auto mechanic at the Quaza Service Station.

He is survived by his parents, Baltazar and Marilyn Villarosa Sitjar; his sister, Promised Joy Sitjar; and his brother, Russell Art Sitjar.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O Connor, Inc. was held at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
