Silent People…. Restless Spirits

Silent People.... Restless Spirits

There have been a number of shootings recently in Far Rockaway, and many residents, young and old, have called us to express their concerns. The murder of Dennis Ross, which occurred in the Redfern Houses, and other killings along the peninsula, have left many feeling that their communities are under siege. It does not have to be this way. The communities where the shootings are taking place must stand up and denounce these acts and provide information so that those responsible can be brought to justice. People can no longer afford to be afraid of "dropping dime" on someone they know was involved in a criminal act. In these situations, silence is deadly. If no one is willing to stand up and do the right thing, these assassins will continue to inflict death and destruction on the community. Since the killers have no regard for life, there should be no hesitation on the part of the residents to turn them in. The best way to honor the memory of a dear friend or family member is to help bring their killer to justice. It's not about "ratting" someone out. It's about saving communities and preventing other families from having to cry over an open casket.
