Not Soliciting Dues

Not Soliciting Dues

Dear Editor;

It has come to the attention of the Board of Directors of the Rockaway Park Association (RPA) that membership dues have been and are presently being collected in our name by individuals soliciting door to door. It has never been the policy of this organization to collect dues by knocking on our neighbors' doors. The RPA only collects our $25 membership dues via a letter in the mail or at our general meetings.

Since 1996, the RPA has been the recognized voice of the Rockaway Park community.
The RPA was established to exercise, promote and protect the rights, privileges and interests
of our neighbors (tenants and homeowners) in Rockaway Park; to foster a genuine interest in the civic affairs of the community; and to improve the quality of life for our neighbors living in Rockaway Park and surrounding communities. It was the Rockaway Park Association that
led the battle to close more than a dozen illegally converted and unsafe SROs plaguing our community.

The RPA continues to advocate on behalf of our local schools; fight for more lifeguards on
our beaches and against beach closures; beautify our neighborhood; and assist our neighbors affected by the Sept. 11 tragedy and the crash of Flight 587.

Please do not be fooled by individuals attempting to take your money under false pretenses.
Do not be intimidated into giving money to anyone who comes to your door. The Rockaway Park Association has served our community in the past and we will continue championing the causes of our community each day ahead.
