Israel Crisis Affects Blacks

Israel Crisis Affects Blacks

Dear Editor;

NY Blacks and Hispanics are closely monitoring the Middle East crisis, and we believe that most Israelis and Palestinians want peace. However, it seems to be the extremists on both sides causing the needless killing of the "innocent victims" on all sides. We also believe this terrible conflict has little to do with religion, and may be based more so on a desperate need for "land and real estate." We fear the worse, and believe that Colin Powell and the Office of Homeland Security should investigate the possibility that the "desperate housing and land issue" in the Middle East has already spilled over into the American housing industry in every state.

I believe an investigation may reveal five dangerous patterns of land takeover in the U.S. stemming from this crisis (which could destroy the American affordable housing industry as well as raise rents in every state). They are: (1) Tripling Rents, forcing the middle class out of their own neighborhoods; 2) Rezoning Commercial Property to force businesses to sell their property against their will; 3) Privatization Plans for selling federal housing, potentially running elderly Americans into the streets; 4) attempts to takeover the management of airports, coastal property; and former military bases; 5) the possible abuse of HUD funds with the excessive building of luxury houses, and the abuse of the Homeownership Program, (of Federal Housing law #105-276) by international realtors.

The lack of housing abroad is now an American problem.
