Lacrosse Huskers Defeat Baltimore M.S. Champions
By Greg Carter
The Far Rock Husker Lacrosse program has taken another huge step towards becoming one of the elite youth lacrosse programs in the United States.
The Huskers made their second trip to Baltimore not only a victorious one, but a very eventful one also. Pimlico Middle School, who the Huskers lost to four years ago during our first game, were defeated last Saturday by the Far Rock Huskers in an exciting overtime game, 6-5.
But this trip featured more than our victory itself. The Huskers watched the John Hopkins-Towson State Game and visited the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The Huskers met the great staff from the Hall of Fame as they showed us the history of lacrosse and all of the great lacrosse players of the past, which included the great Jim Brown.
After our victory, Pimlico was a truly gracious host by having the Huskers stay for the post-game pizza party that was really great. A very special thank you goes out to head coach Rod Horn and his wife for being such outstanding hosts. More importantly, a very special thank you too all of the Husker parents that came on this glorious trip. Thank you to the Husker Ladies/Moms, Janith King, Sarah Patterson, Laurel Carlson and Catherine White, you were great. I also do now want to forget our male parents and head coach Jasper Kelly, a great job Coach!!
Leading the way were defensive standouts was Goalie Hernando Hoyos, Jhelani Montoute, Chris Douglas, Jason Kelly, Mike Cruz, Walter White, Thorrie Murray and the Patterson boys. Goal scorers for the Huskers were as always Phil Collins, who played great defensively, and Keith "Lefty Lazer" Carlson, Adam Torres and Gustavo Lopez for the 6-5 victory.
