Reduction in Recycling

Reduction in Recycling

Dear Editor;

Although I've only lived here a year (Arverne by the Sea development) the times/dates have changed for recycle refuse pick up. It once was every Saturday, then it morphed to every other Saturday, and now it seems to have gone to once a month pick up by our quiet default with no notification at all.

Our community seems to place the trash at the curbside and hope for someone to pick it up. As quiet as it is kept, we do receive some aid from the seagulls in the area. If this is accomplished once a month we are grateful, and if it happens twice a month, we are in ecstasy. Is this the norm or is it a 'blue flu' going around for which we should send cards and flowers in the hope that the sanitation department may recover in a timely manner.

My hopes is that someone at your office could enlighten us, or at the very least inform us, of some good uses for three week old disposable diapers, which by the way can become very odoriferous in the heat of the summer. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

ALWAYS POSITIVE IN ARVERNE
