Hey! We’re Over Here!

Hey! We're Over Here!

Dear Editor;

I respectfully beg to differ with your statement in the Beachcomber, which stated, "There are no voters living alongside Rockaway Boulevard nearby JFK."

    You may have forgotten about Meadowmere Park. A portion of Meadowmere Park (by the International House of Pancakes, up to Brookville Blvd. on the east side of Rockaway Blvd.) is located in the city of New York. The portion of Meadowmere Park that is accessed by West Avenue (by Goodyear Tires) is part of Nassau County.

The way the Nassau/NYC line is drawn is always a bone of contention when there is a car accident on Rockaway Turnpike or Rockaway Boulevard. Nassau police usually show up to aid the injured, but jurisdiction for the accident lies within the boundaries of the New York City Police Department.ELISA BACHROW HINKEN
