Police officers from the 101 Precinct, responding to reports of an injured man at Peninsula Hospital Center last Wednesday, ended up arresting the man after he reportedly passed bags of heroin through his rectum.
The man, identified as Antonio Rojas, 39, of Beach 119 Street, was later charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance by police.
According to Detective Cashen, of the 101 Precinct, Rojas had been in the hospital since April 15.
"At this time, the matter is still under investigation," said Cashen.
"However, I can tell you that toxicology reports showed the presence of PCP’s and heroin in the man’s system. He passed a total of 8 condoms that were filled with heroin."
Cashen also stated that Rojas is originally from Bolivia, and that no other details were available about the suspect when speaking with Wave reporters.
