Fannie Edwards William Caldwell, born in Sumter, South Carolina, was a long time resident of the Rockaway community. She died on April 14, 2002.

Fannie worked as a stock analyst for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the Unity Center of Flushing; Residents Council of Flushing House.

She is survived by her daughters Hortense L. Morgan and Rosemary Boone; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members.

Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Mount Holiness Cemetery in Butler, New Jersey.

Rita Callahan
Housewife

Rita Callahan, born in the County of Leitrim, Ireland, died on April 22, 2002 at the age of 80.

Rita worked as a matron in Rockaway Beach public schools and counselor and dietician at St. John's Home for Boys in Rockaway Beach.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband Patrick V. Callahan.

She is survived by her children Kathleen Leonetti, Colleen Fithian, Garry Callahan, Patrick Callahan, William Callahan; sister May Winn; and 10 grandchildren;

Interment was held under the services of The Meserola Funeral Home Inc.

Amanda Douglas

Amanda Douglas, born in Windsor, North Carolina, passed away on April 16, 2002.

She is survived by her children Mary, Dennis, Gordon, Larry and Renay; sister Mildred; and a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vernice Ruth Douglas, born in Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on April 17, 2002.

Vernice was a member of the St. John Baptist Church.

Vernice is preceded in death by her brothers Willie E. and Henry J. Manigault.

She is survived by her cousins Lois Burgess and Thomasina; Mr. Larry and Diane Nance and family; and close friend Patricia Collins;

Robert P. Kelley
Truck Driver

Robert P. Kelley, born in Massachusettes, was a 39 year resident of the Rockaway Beach community. He passed away on April 19, 2002.

Robert worked as a truck driver for Local Teamster 810 and was a member of St. Camillus Church. He was a member of the Air Force during the Korean War.

Robert is preceded in death by his brother Francis Kelley.

He is survived by his wife Mary P. Kelley (nee Canning); daughters Patricia Meade, Denise Murphy, Colleen Giardellia, Annemarie French, Kathleen David; sons Robert Kelley, Brian Kelley, Thomas Kelley; sisters Rosemary Kelley and Margaret Pastirchak; brother Thomas Kelley and William Kelley; and 21 grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O' Connor Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.

Margaret McCambridge
Swiss Bank Employee

Margaret M. McCambridge (nee Cleary), born in New York City, was a resident of the Broad Channel community. She died on April 16, 2002 at the age of 79.

Margaret was the past president of the Broad Channel American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as Benefit Supervisor for the Swiss Bank and attended St. Virgilius Church.

She is survived by her husband John F. McCambridge; her children John J., Margaret, Mary, Thomas, Timothy W.; sisters Thomasina Cavanaugh and Eileen Willsen; and 8 grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Hillebrand Funeral Homes was held at National Cemetery in Long Island.

John F. McDonald Jr.
U.S. Army Veteran

John F. McDonald Jr., was a resident of the Rockaway Beach community who passed away on April 12, 2002 at the age of 69.

John served 27 years in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He retired after serving 27 years. He graduated from St. Francis De Sales.

He is survived by his wife Elaine (Haviland) McDonald; sons David B. McDonald, John H. McDonald; daughter Sue M. Jones; three grandchildren;

Interment was held by the Caswell-King Funeral home in Holden Massachusetts.

Catherine M. Rafferty
Airline Supervisor

Catherine M. (nee Roach) Rafferty, born in Manhattan, was a lifetime resident of Rockaway Park. She died on April 19, 2002

Catherine was a supervisor for KLM Airlines and worked there for 35 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Rafferty and her son Edward Rafferty.

She is survived by her sons John E. Raffferty and James Rafferty; daughers Kathleen P. Greaney and Noreen Rafferty; sister Nonie Steiniger; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O' Connor Inc. was held at Calverton National Cemetery.
