Margaret M. Boland, born in Manhattan, was a 16 year resident of the Rockaway Beach community. She passed away on April 14, 2002.

Margaret worshipped at St. Rose of Lima, and worked as a retail salesperson.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann Browne; sisters Elizabeth Boland and Eileen Hanaure; brother John Boland; grandmother of Eileen Dieckmann, Theresa McEwan and Denise Santiago; a host of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima on April 19, 2002 at 10:30 a.m.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc. will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on April 19, 2002.

Hubert Adolphus Blake
Civil Engineer

Hubert Adolphus Blake was a 26-year resident of the Rockaway area. He passed away on April 5, 2002.

Hubert spent most of his life working as a civil engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; one brother; one sister; one daughter; three sons; and other relatives and friends.

Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Evergreen Cemetery.

Gilda L. D'Anna
Homemaker

Gilda L. D'Anna was a lifelong resident of the Far Rockaway area. She died on April 16, 2002.

Gilda was an active and longtime volunteer at Peninsula Hospital Center, and she spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael D'Anna.

She is survived by her sons Bruce D'Anna and Richard D'Anna; daughter Judith A. Martino; sister Jean D'Anna; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima on April 19, 2002 at 9:30 a.m.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc. will be held at Greenfield Cemetery on April 19, 2002.

Marion T. Forst
Cook

Marion T. Forst, born in Brooklyn, was a 50 year resident of the Breezy Point community. She passed away on April 14, 2002.

Marion worked as a cook for the St. Thomas More Rectory.

She is preceded in death by her husband George Forst.

She is survived by her sister Julia Bouyea and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church on April 19, 2002 at 9:30 a.m.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc. will be held at Lutheran Cemetery on April 19, 2002.

William Herman Hamlett
Loved By Many

William Herman Hamlett, born in Campbell County, Virginia, was a long time resident of the Rockaway community. He died on April 6, 2002.

William is survived by his fiancée, Betty; his sons, David and Willie; his daughter, Sandra; his stepsons, Freddie and Earl; his sisters, Mary Ann and Ruby; his brothers, Truman and Frankie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. was held at Lincoln Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

Clara Manello
Homemaker

Clara Manello, born in Ridgewood, was a 25 year resident of Rockaway Beach. She died on April 13, 2002.

Clara is survived by her husband Anthony Manello; sons Joseph, John and Anthony; daughter Gloria Catenzaro; sister Hazel Calderoni; brother Joseph Murray; 2 grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery.

Gillian Pamela Marshall
Dearly Missed

Gillian Pamela Marshall, born in Trinidad, West Indies, was a long time Rockaway resident. She passed away on April 8, 2002.

Gillian is survived by her father, Albert Wheeler; her son, Kai-Drew; her brother, Randy; and other family members.

Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.

Larry Siederman
Mason

Larry Siederman, born in Brooklyn, was a lifetime resident of the Rockaway Park community. He passed away on April 11, 2002.

Larry worked as a mason in construction and attended St. Rose of Lima Church.

He is preceded in death by his son Sean Siederman and brother Joseph Siederman.

He is survived by his loving companion Rise Sion; sons Abe and Shane; daughter Linda; brother Charlie; sisters Eleanor and Karen and her grandchildren Tiffany, Ashley, Sean, Thomas, Mikey, Riley, Liam.

Funeral arrangements were handled under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Inc.

Clarence Walls
Former IBM Employee

Clarence Walls, born and raised in Harlem, New York before coming to Rockaway, was a long time member of the Arverne community. He died on March 24, 2002 after a long battle with cancer.

Clarence attended Bronx Science High School, and after graduating he went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a Radar Technician in Labrador, Canada. Later, he attended Pratt Institute to study painting and drawing, and spent 28 years as an employee of IBM.

Clarence was one of the founding members of Arverne Neighborhood Development Organization, involved in trying to clean up lots and look after the interests of the neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine; his children, Derek, Erika, and Leigh; his granddaughter, Tyler; his mother, Ruth; and his siblings, Carolyn, Constance, Shirley, Theodore, and Naomi; and many loving family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home, Jamaica, NY.
