Amnesty Group Visits MS 180

Nick Sullivan, a Human Rights Educator and Director for Amnesty International, a group dedicated to human rights, as well as releasing all political prisoners around the world, met recently with a group of students from Middle School 180 in Rockaway Beach.

Students from Class 601 at the middle school have been involved in a letter-writing campaign for human rights. Sullivan awarded each child who had written a letter in support of human rights with a certificate for their work on behalf of the organization. Those students who were involved in the project include: Bennett Bennett, Rebeeca Sanchez, Sara Lee White, Wajeeda Anderson, Marie Rockubrua, Rosedelle Chefry, Zsott Domonkos, Daybeliz Ramirez and Bodisha Ramcharran.

The school’s magnet coordinator, Tony LaVecchio directed the project.
