The Textile Show and the Extract Show exhibited their wares at the Javit's Center and I had a great time sampling some of their new products. At the Textile Show the Spaziale Splendy Bathrobe was one of the award winners. And, no wonder, when I turned up at their booth I was very impressed with the new microfiber that weighs only 300 grams, takes up small space and absorbs liquid the way paper soaks up ink. It is great for traveling and for sports buffs and workout men and women. It can be washed normally in a washing machine at 40 degrees and becomes softer after the first wash. It is wonderful for members of the Beach Clubs and sure to be a winner with sun lovers and surfers. It is manufactured in Italy and only began two years ago. This is the first time they are selling it in America and it looks like it is a big winner all around. You should be able to get it at Sport Shops, Fitness Centers, Homewear as well as intimate wear. Maybe some of our local shops should have some on hand for the summer crowd. They should sell out fast.

At the Extract Show, I discovered many great fragrances in candles and soaps and sprays. My favorite was Soap Petals for your bathroom, especially good when you have guests. They are separate pastel flower petals with a flowery fragrance that could also be used in the tub though I think they would be more impressive on the bathroom sink to be used by your guests . Better to toss their bubble bath confetti into your bath. Both products put out by Bain Moussant. I tried on the permanent lip color that is kiss proof and doesn't come off on anything and will last all day long. Abra puts out a premature aging cream that is a Green Tea Body Soak; And, if you are a chocolate lover, Serendipity has a hot Chocolate body bath and a foot cream, nail polish and lipstick. You'll smell like the tastiest and be the most sought after person in town. After your pedicure at "Janet's" there is a beautiful rhinestone toe bright to glue on your toe. It is really very pretty by Toe Brights. They come in all pretty colors and shapes. I got a sample of Mystic Mint Bath Fizz by All Natural Botanicals. (Maybe this comes close to a Champagne bath?) A mud facial mask that is to do wonders for you, and, let' s not forget the kiddies, Kids and Co. puts out Baby Shampoo, Vapor Bath, Baby Lotion and bath and wash in yellow plastic bottles with colorful fun drawings on the front. All tearless products.

Special Awards were given for the Council for Exceptional Children at the Hilton Hotel and Towers and it was a very moving program. Though it is heart breaking to see these children, some with severe handicaps, it is still edifying how they manage and handle their disability. I had an interesting conversation with the people who train the very special dogs, part of the Canine Companion for Independence team. They told me out of 300 dogs only 30 are selected for their training. They have to have a special temperament and have the need to be of help and enjoy assisting these young children. The dogs demonstrated how they push a wheel chair, open doors, answer phones and retrieve anything and bring it to the child. It is just marvelous what they can do to bring independence to those who cannot be independent without them. When you see what people and animals can do to help others you feel it is a beautiful world after all. And if you wish to be a volunteer, donate money or help the Council for Exceptional Children in Arlington, Va.

, I had a wonderful brunch at Kennedy's this Sunday. My favorite is their seafood crepes and the portion was more than ample. Two huge crepes with a heavenly sauce. You can always get bacon and eggs for brunch but where can you get an order like this? It is different and that is what I like. However, Tom Connors was happy with his bacon. sausage and eggs. Kennedy's really fills up fast and more and more I find different faces. They are not all from Breezy or Rockaway. They come from Brooklyn. Queens and long Island and many come to celebrate a birthday, anniversary christening or whatever. The food is always good and the view is spectacular. Make your reservations early.

The "Corner Bachelors" were at the bar and they told me they are gathering a group for the Football game at Giants Stadium . Hurry and call Joe Kilbride or Gerard at Kennedy's if you want to get room on the bus. Space is limited. It is a fundraiser for the Police and Firemen a good cause.

I want to thank all my readers who responded to my recommendation to try the new restaurant Clementes Crabhouse. I'm sure you enjoyed it as much as I did.
