Spring Season Begins For The NYJTL by Robert Thompson

The New York Junior Tennis League is starting their spring season on Monday, April 21st. For the fifth consecutive season, the NYJTL is opening its doors for children from the ages of 6-18 to the joys of tennis. The program takes place from Monday to Thursday from 3- 6 p.m. at the following schools: P.S. 42, JHS-198, P.S. 106 and M.S. 53.

The NYJTL has had more than 170,000 children participate in tennis and physical education classes, which makes it one of the largest programs in the country. Through tennis the NYJTL teaches character development, physical conditioning, social skills development, learning disciplines and educational opportunities.

The program is looking for individuals to work part-time for the spring program. The positions available are for tennis coaches and interns. It will be a great opportunity to earn extra money for the spring. People who qualify must have knowledge of tennis, a flexible schedule and a desire to make a positive impact on young people. Training is available for positions and will take place before the spring session begins.

For those interested in the program, contact the NYJTL at 718-786-7110 for general information. Those people, who are interested in applying to become a coach or intern, contact Dawn McEntyre at 718-786-7110 Ext.153 or fax resumes to 718-786-7635. People can mail their resumes to 24-16 Queens Plaza S. Rm., 207, Long Island City, Queens, N.Y. 11101.
