Army News Cites Several Locals

The United States Army Hometown News Service has listed stories about a number of local residents.

Army Private First Class Alwin A. Johns has arrived for duty at the Vilseck-Granferwoehr Military Community in Germany. Johns is a radiology specialist assigned to the Army Health Center at that location. He is the son of Alwin A. Johns of Arverne and is a 2000 graduate of Beach Channel High School.

Army Private William N. Garvey has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He is the son of William Garvey of Rockaway Point.

Quinn L. Broady has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. That program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.

Broady, a 2002 graduate of Beach Channel High School, will report to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for basic training.
