The response to my original letter questioning the United States support of Israel worthy of response why to they respond at all? It just reinforces my belief of Jewish control of media in the United States, that a newspaper feels obligated to explain it's publishing the opinion of one of it's readers. At any rate, I do not think I am anti Semite, but that I am pro United States. I have never believed that we should give any support to this new country. As I originally stated I was in the military in 1967 and thought we would be on the Arab side in the 6 day war. I remember that Israel attacked a United States Naval vessel and killed US Naval personnel. That was no accident. Funny no one else seems to remember this. I also do not see the Israeli's as brave freedom fighters, but as an arrogant military regime putting jackboots to it's Palestinian population. If the United States did not support and condone this we would not have a terrorist problem now. Let's lose our support dollars to Israel, and make things better for the United States. No support for Israel federally, and lets stop local favoritism and police protection for Jewish facilities around NY. I feel we could better spend the time of these officers to patrol duties better suited to the ENTIRE population.
One additional comment to answer somebody who wrote in: If the Jews have always been persecuted by different peoples, why is this? Is it because of arrogance, militarism, or something else? I don't know, but there certainly must be a reason. No one goes out of their way throughout time to destroy, oh I don't know, the Swedes, for example. Think about it. And to set the record straight, I do not dislike all Jews. Just the US support of the money-sucking foreign government of Israel. This country allows free practice of religion last time I checked. It also allows it's citizens freedom to express displeasure at the policies adopted or adapted by the elected officials.
