Annie Doris Christian, born in Albany, Georgia, was a long time resident of the Rockaway community. She passed away on March 18, 2002 at the age of 73.
She is preceded in death by her father David Wilson, sister Theodosia and brother Charlie.
She is survived by her mother Doretha; daughter Lovetta Westley; son Cedric; brothers Oscar Jr. and Donell; sisters Mamie Lee, Flossie Tinson, Caolyn Breedlove, Eddie Ruth Willis, Bertha Lewis and Brenda Christian and 10 grandchildren;
Interment was under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc.
Andrew C. Colberg
Andrew C. Colberg, born in the Bronx, was a 53 year resident of Rockaway Beach. He passed away on March 27, 2002.
Andrew worshipped at St. Rose of Lima, and was an electrician with Local 3 IBEW. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen (nee Gaffney) Colberg; daughters Kerry, Kristin and her husband Brian Casey and Kathleen; her brothers Carl, George, Douglas and Paul and sister Laura.
Visitation at the Denis S. O' Connor Funeral Home, Inc. will be held on March 30 and March 31 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O' Connor Funeral Home, Inc. will take place at Calverton National Cemetery on April 1, 2002.
Frederic Lee Coone
Frederic Lee Coone, born in Durham, South Carolina, was a long time resident of the Rockaway community. He died on March 18, 2002 at the age of 64.
Frederic was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an Army Reserve Sergeant. He was a member of Local#3, Treasurer of the Elektra Federal Credit Union and member of the Lewis Howard Latimer Association.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Ottley Chesterfield; brothers Dennis Barbeet and Wayne Ottley; a host of grandchildren.
Interment was held under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. at Pinelawn Cemetery.
Mildred Dulashewitz, born in Manhatta, was a resident of Rockaway Beach for 51 years. She passed away on March 16, 2002 at the age of 87.
She is survived by her children Joan, Paul, Linda and Gloria; son in laws Jack and Bill; grandmother of ten children and great-grandmother of 9 children.
Interment was held under the direction of the Aliffi and Jordan Funeral Home of Island Park, N.Y at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn, N.Y.
Bernell Juanita Pollard Earle, born in Manhattan, was a resident of the Rockaway community. She died on March 10, 2002 at the age of 49.
She is survived by her daughter Teresha; mother Marie Pollard; sisters Lavinia Barkley, Latanya Pollard and Detra Pollard; brothers Nathaniel and William Pollard and a host of grandchildren.
Interment was held under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, Inc. at Evergreen Crematory in Hillside, New Jersey.
Michael G. Gillen
U.S. Air Force Veteran
Michael G. Gillen, born in New York City, NY was a resident of Broad Channel. He passed away on March 26, 2002 at the age of 82.
Michael attended the St. Michael's School as a youth, and later went on to serve duty as a member of the United States Air Force.
He is preceded in death by parents, Michael and Ann Gillen; and his sisters, Mary Huston and Ann Scanlon.
He is survived by his son, Thomas C. Gillen; his brother, Thomas Gillen; and his grandsons, Daniel and Michael.
A Memorial Mass will be held on April 1, 9:30 a.m., at St. Virgilius Church, in Broad Channel.
Interment under the direction of Hillebrand Funeral Home will be held at Calverton National Cemetery.
Joan Harrison (nee Witmeyer), born in Queens, N.Y. was a long time resident of the Rockaway community. She passed away on March 23, 2002.
Joan worked as a medical assistant to Dr. S. Ghosh and retired in 2000.
She is survived by her loving companion Bob (Noah) Moss; children Charles and his wife Chris, Karen, Danny and his wife Barbara, Robert and his wife Kathy and Thomas and his wife Laura; 16 grandchildren; and siblings Herman Witmeyer and Ruth Gonzalez;

Dorothy E. Meehan
Dorothy E. Meehan, born in Rockaway, was a resident of the Broad Channel community for over 70 years. She passed away on March 10.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Virgilius Rosary Alter Society and the Golden Age Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert.
She is survived by her children Gilbert Meehan, Richard Meehan and wife Karen, Dolores Schmitt and husband Fred; brother George Nicollet and her grandchildren Michael, Brian and Christine Schmitt and Jessica Murphy.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 13, 2002 at St. Virgilius Church.
MaryBeth "Beth" Stray (Nee Clark), born in New York, was a resident of Rockaway Park for 22 years. She passed away on March 21, 2002.
MaryBeth was a respected and innovative special education teacher for the N.Y.C. Board of Education, former coordinator of the Brooklyn Special Olympics and a N.Y.C. Lifeguard. She was a member of St. Thomas More church.
She was in preceded in death by her father Harry Clark, brother Charles, and the daughter in law of Mickey and the Late Jerry Straw.
She is survived by her husband William Stray; her mother Helen Clark (nee Doherty); sister of Jack, Patrick, Dennis, Peggy Lumpkins, Henry and Annie; niece of Pat Doherty and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
