Broad Channel has its own column in the Wave again. Many people read athy Louis's column and enjoyed it tremendously. And when it disappeared from these pages, they sorely missed it. Folks wondered if it would ever return. Well, I'm not Kathy-but here is the column! More ... Breezy Point Firemen fly to France as guests of Air France, French Tourist Board, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Rail Europe and Sofitel Hotels. Yes, Fire Chief Tom and wife, Eileen McDonald, his brother, Fire Chief, Henry and wife, Cathy McDonald of Breezy Point were at the Bon Voyage luncheon at the Sofitel Hotel, in Manhattan last Thursday, given by the above mentioned gracious French donors in appreciation of the great courage and sacrifice displayed by our brave Firemen at the WTC on Sept. 11, that infamous day of terror and horror in New York City. More ... The Ladies Auxilary of the Mayors Committee had their St. Patrick's Day Party in the Mayors Clubhouse on Saturday March 16. President Pat Ross was the chairlady and with her co-chairladies Nancy Scialpi and Jane Swenson and other helpers decorated and ran a great affair. More ... Something is rotten at PS 114, but that has been true for many years. The favoritism and cronyism that went on for years in terms of teacher assignment and student placement is an old story. It was a dark "secret" that was known by all, but never addressed. More ... A few weeks ago, I received a phone call from a man who praised me for having the "huevos" to write the front-page stories involving the Queens Narcotics Unit. He went on to say that many of his co-workers were also pleased about the articles. What took me totally by surprise was the fact that the man I was speaking to, as well as his co-workers, were members of the NYPD. More ... The Rockaway Local Development Corporation (RLDC) will cut the ribbon this weekend on the new $1.6 million C-Town Supermarket at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 49 Street in Edgemere. More ... |
