Giving Credit

Dear Editor;

In regards to the flagpole installed at 117 Street and the boardwalk. Under the heading of giving credit where credit is due.

Funding for the signs was provided by Bob Rousch who solicited them from small businesses and private donations, The signs, flagpole, design acquirement and installation was done by Thomas C. Ferstler of Beach 72 Street in Arverne with assistance from John Saracino, President of Aaqua Therm Plumbing Heating and Cooling of Queens, who donated the material. Labor was provided by residents of Rockwood Park, who came together in spirit, pride and patriotism just days before Veteran's Day, a very special day to them, in a moments notice.

All volunteered services for assembly, and installation of sign and flagpole. Residents were Dave Skeans, Willie Gavinovich, Billy Langan and veterans were John Devilly who recruited Jack Coffey, Joe DeChico, brothers Mike and Tom Martin and Bruce Sjursen, all of Rockwood Park who often can be found reflecting around their flagpole.
