Local Charged With Kidnapping

A Belle Harbor man has been charged along with two others by Suffolk County Police in the kidnapping of a Houston businessman last week.
According to Suffolk County Police sources, Rockaway native Louis Green and Texas businessman Edgar Bias had business dealings involving oil and real estate in Mexico.
Bias flew in from Texas to Islip Airport last week, reportedly to meet with Green and the two others to discuss the deal.
Police say, however, that the three men, dissatisfied with the return on their investments, kidnapped
Bias and held him for 11 hours, took his watch and $3,000 cash that he had on his person and forced him to make calls in order to obtain a $50 thousand ransom.
They were arrested at a motel in Howard Beach by police who tracked them to the area.
"They apparently wanted their money back from the initial investment," said Detective Lt. Edward Reilly, commander of the Suffolk County police squad that coordinated the arrests.
The three men were arraigned on charges of second-degree kidnapping in a Suffolk County court.
