Heart Breaks Each Morn

Heart Breaks Each Morn

Dear Editor,

My heart breaks each morning since Monday. I used to live on the corner of 131 and Newport on the top floor of the beautiful white house. I would look out the window often and think how lucky I was to live in such a place. The images are still crystal clear. Now, with amazement, I see the same view on front pages of the newspapers and the unimaginable has happened. Having worked the midnight shift when I lived there, each morning just around 10.30 I would be awoken by the Concord. The house would shake and you could feel the plane coming. It sounded as if it was about to enter the bedroom but that voice in my head would always tell me that of course everything will be ok. Circumstances forced me to leave this wonderful place, and now my heart breaks each morning. But I also know that Belle Harbor will be a stronger and a better place to live down the road, if that is possible. The warmth of living in Rockaway will never be forgotten, I only wish I could have been there on Monday to help my old neighbors and friends.

You will be in my heart every morning for the rest of my life.........I love you Rockaway.............I love you Belle Harbor...
