Beth Stray Benefit Needs Participants

Beth Stray Benefit Needs Participants

A benefit for Beth Stray will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2002 between 1 and 5 p.m. at Fort Tilden in Rockaway. Food, drink, music and more will be offered to all those attending the benefit.

A group of friends of Beth and Bill Stray have organized this fundraiser event to raise money to offset the high expenses that the Strays have incurred in Beth’s battle against a very aggressive brain cancer.

The Strays have accumulated mounds of medical expenses, which were not covered by insurance. Unfortunately, the most aggressive approach of treatment possible had little impact on the cancer.

Beth Stray has devoted her life to children that were most in need. She was a Special Education teacher in some of New York City’s most deprived and needy communities. She was also a major organizer and instructor in the Brooklyn Special Olympics Program, as well as serving as a New York City lifeguard.

Bill Stray is retired from the U.S. Parks Police. He now takes care of his wife full time. Bill was also active in the Special Olympics programs, and he has been a key member in fundraiser events for people stricken with terrible misfortunes.

The fundraising event will be held in Gateway National Recreation Area, building T-149, in the Fort Tilden complex in Rockaway Beach. A suggested donation of twenty dollars will be requested at the door. Various prizes will be offered through raffles.

Anything that you could do to help with the Beth Stray Benefit will be most appreciated. If you need any other information please contact Mike Mulqueen at (718) 945-7710.
