Strong Support for G-man

Strong Support for G-man

Dear Editor;

The NAACP thanks you and your Associate Editor, Mr. Gary G. Toms, for the fair, objective and thorough reporting of the recent events concerning the Drug Enforcement Unit and community residents.

We, at the local and national level, especially thank and appreciate Mr. Toms for his excellence in journalism as he covers the East and West ends of the Rockaway peninsula. I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to appeal to the residents of the Rockaways, particularly in communities that have not benefited from fair and equitable journalism in the past, to submit letters expressing their appreciation and support of The G-man.

To my sisters and brothers, let us wake up and recognize the value of The G-man. He is the first African-American Associate Editor in the 108-year history of the newspaper. The NAACP is committed to promoting the advancement of people of all colors, be they red, white, yellow or black.

As long as he continues to exercise fair and equitable journalism, we should celebrate his achievements by purchasing each edition of this newspaper to stay abreast of the issues that affect our community.

ED WILLIAMS
PRESIDENT
FAR ROCKAWAY, NAACP
