Don’t Be So Nosey

Don't Be So Nosey

It seems the media has developed an obsession over Mayor Bloomberg's private life in the last few weeks. Bloomberg, who has spent time outside of New York City on the weekends, has practically told the media that what he does on the weekends is none of their business. He is absolutely right. During the workweek, Bloomberg has a responsibility to handle all of the duties that come with being the mayor. Barring some major crisis or catastrophe, Bloomberg has every right to get away and do whatever he wants. Just because he chooses to spend weekends elsewhere does not mean that he does not care about New York City or its people. If anything, he is probably maintaining a routine he developed while running the Bloomberg Empire. The media's attempts to portray him as "flighty" are unfair. As long as Bloomberg serves the city in an honorable and effective manner, who cares about what he's doing or whom he's spending time with on his days off.
