Buckley’s to Kennedy’s, May 19

Buckley’s to Kennedy’s, May 19

Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages are circling Sunday, May 19 on their calendars for the annual Buckley’s to Kennedy’s Heroes Race. In addition to benefiting HeartShare Human Services, as it has for the last ten years, the 10K event this year will commemorate 9/11 and also benefit charities associated with firefighters and police officers. Runners will also be able to dedicate their run to a personal "hero." HeartShare serves more than 12,000 vulnerable children and families of all backgrounds in the metro area.

Rain or shine, sprinters will set off at 10 a.m. from Buckley’s Restaurant, at Avenue S and Nostrand, in Marine Park, Brooklyn, and cross the finish line at Gateway National Park in Queens. HeartShare Board member James Buckley and Gerard Casey, of Kennedy’s Restaurant in Breezy Point, Queens, are the driving forces behind the Race, which for two decades has brought together the New York community. The post-race event at Fort Tilden will feature awards, children’s activities, music and refreshments.
