BC Students Going to Germany

BC Students Going to Germany

Beach Channel High School is one of several New York City Public High School selected to participate in the "Bridge: Berlin – New York" Program. Students will depart on March 26 and return on April 8.

This special program is sponsored by the Federal Republic of Germany, along with major German corporations such as Daimler Chrysler, Lufthansa, Thyssen and Volkswagen, and is intended as a gesture of support in the wake of the tragedy of September 11.

Students will spend two weeks in Germany, visiting various cities such as Munich, Frankfurt, Bonn, Hamburg, Bremen, Dresden and Leipzig. Special events are planned in each city. The trip ends with three days in Berlin, including a reception at the U.S. Embassy and another reception hosted by the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Many students applied; those accepted to participate are Jose Robles, Nharambilli Ugbode, Chaz Jenkins, Rebecca Lifranc, Anna Sloush, Demima Amerieri and Angelika Kosobudzka.

Mrs. Joanne Chiarino, teacher of German and Coordinator of the Foreign Language Department at Beach Channel, will be one of the chaperones. We wish them all "Gute Reise" (a good trip).
