      Rockaway residents are invited to participate in the Avon Three Day for Breast Cancer. This is a sixty-mile walk from Bear Mountain to Downtown Manhattan. The October 2002 event will benefit breast cancer research.

Search and Rescue Prepares For Summer
      Rockaway Search and Rescue (RSAR) will be conducting training at Fellowship Hall on the second floor of Battalion Pentecostal Church at 454 Beach 67th Street in Arverne. It will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd. Those wishing to join can attend, fill out applications and start their training that day. Training will continue on each Saturday during the month at the same time. On April 6th there will be swim training and testing, location to be announced in class.
