Flaming Pools

Flaming Pools

Dear Editor

These are my thoughts on the WTC memorial:

Two rectangular mirror pools that occupy the same footprint of each tower, therefore two square pools.  In each pool will be pipes that will come
strait up from the bottom pointing out of the water by 1 to 2 inches. Each pipe will produce flame via gas. The pipes with flames will be scattered though out the pools, one for each person that died (not including the rescuers).  The pipes will be the size a normal copper plumbing pipe and will burn 24/7. On the wide marble rail of the pool, inlayed will be a
picture of each person who died, and the water will gently flow over them into a spillway.  Near the edges of the pool will be brass chairs in the
form of giant feathers facing inward over the pools.  One for each rescuer
(hero), somewhat like one of those chairs shaped like a hand but of course in the form of a feather.

The water symbolizes peace and serenity (where they are all now) fire for the light they shed on many lives, the feathers represent angels.

Flags will surround the pool representing each country that lost someone in the tragedy.  There will be one black flag.  It will represent evil and that throughout the history of man one person has tried to snuff the light of people and we should always be vigilant to that fact because the day we forget is the day we let it happen again.

You will be able to go there and sit in the feather shaped chairs and look
across the pool and reflect.
