Filthy Bank

Filthy Bank

Dear Editor,

I feel impressed to voice my disgust on the filthy condition that is present in the ATM section of the Far Rockaway (Mott Ave) branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank. I went to the branch's ATM yesterday and encountered (like I normally do – this time was just worse) garbage scattered all over the inside of the bank. I literally had to be stepping â018high' to avoid tripping over the garbage that was present. Another woman that was already inside immediately started to express her concern to me about the condition of the branch. She made mention that if this branch was elsewhere (in another neighborhood) it would not be in its present condition.

In addition to this, I have noticed that the door leading to the ATM has been left open for sometime. In other words I have experienced times where I would go to the ATM late at nights and I wouldn't need my ATM card to get in – the door was already open. Could it be that they left it open for me since they know I am such a frequent user of their ATM machine? And is that why they provided me with a self-service checking account whereby I am restricted to using only their ATM machines (free of cost) to deposit and withdraw funds and exposing myself to danger? Could this be the "right relationship" that they speak so proudly of?

I happen to be one of those people who love living in Far Rockaway but at the same time I don't believe that businesses that provide services here give us the respect we deserve. It's time we put a stop to this! If anyone reading this has similar concerns about the Far Rockaway Branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank, please call their Customer Service Advocates at 935-9935 from any of the five boroughs. I did!
