WE LOVE NEW YORK DAY was a beautiful day at the Marriott Marquis starting with Awards luncheon honoring J.W. Marriott, Jr. , Chairman and CEO of Marriott International for 2002 outstanding New Yorker. Martin Luther King III received the Joel Dolci CAE, inspiration of Excellence Award. Mr. King III spoke about significant policy initiatives to maintain fair and equitable treatment of all citizens at home and abroad.

His missions have taken him to Africa, Europe and Asia. And, of course, his messages and initiatives are all rooted within the tenets of non-violent resolutions. They had a salute to America's Heroes by Gateway Cathedral Choir. We then met the suppliers and hoteliers with many lucky winner giveaways at their trade show. All this was followed by a Gala evening party with eight food stations around the ballroom and entertainment. A great celebration for "I Love New York Day".

There is a new cosmetic on the market that uses all natural products called Ecco Bella, which infuses delicate flower waxes into their powders, blushes and eye makeup that glides it on your face smoother, more evenly and to maintain a soft finish for long lasting color coverage. I tried it myself and found it very complimentary. I especially liked the blush and the powder. It comes in unique paperback compacts that are biodegradable. This line of cosmetics is excellent for sensitive skin and the results you get are illuminating.

When your child gets a boo boo don't fret. Stephan Enterprizes came up with a great solution. It is the #1 selling product on the market. They look like little pink and blue booty bunnies that are, in reality, ice packs

You put them in the freezer and when your child gets a boo boo you just place it on the spot and away the pain or swelling goes! If you watched my television segments last week you may have caught the adorable and loveable musical dolls (Rebecca and Grace) from Stephan Enterprizes. They move their heads and hands to "It's a Small Small World" and other numbers. You just want to pick them up and hug them,……Another item for Gift of Love. Your child will just love this doll.

Boxers Francisco Bojado and "Jeff" Mario Lacey, two recent winners were honored at a luncheon at Gallagher's for their victories. Many wishes were offered for their continued boxing success. Future fights have been scheduled but exact dates have not been confirmed as yet….We'll look for them.

Just came from the Pierre Hotel luncheon where Mary Tyler Moore was honored. She was presented with the ASPCA lifetime achievement award for working tirelessly on behalf of the nation's animals in such organizations as the ASPCA. Delta Society, Humane Society of the United States and the Farm Animal Sanctuary. Her involvement includes a diverse range of charities including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Tom Brackey and the Madcap Mutts (Stormy and Marty) were the presenters of her award. Not only did I speak to Mary Tyler Moore but I got a chance to meet the canine heroes of the WTC.: Bravo, owned and trained by Police Officer, Joseph Caputo, SAR dog who accepted the Henry Berg Medal of Honor on behalf of all FEMA's SAR dog team. Caputo has been a police officer for fourteen years and has served eleven in the NYPD K-9 unit. Another Medal of Honor was presented to Lieutenant Daniel Donadio and Officer Peter Davis and Appollo , a SAR Dog. Lieutenant Donadio supervised and coordinated NYPD K-9 resources at ground zero Officer David Lim received another Medal of Honor for his work with his devoted partner, canine Sirus, who unfortunately died in the WTC tragedy. His new canine partner, Sprig accepted the award for Sirus. Also present were the Therapy dogs who worked at Pier 94 to comfort the families of the victims. They are warm, friendly, cuddly dogs who give comfort to those in grief. A very moving afternoon, but a worthwhile one to see that those who have helped others are receiving the rewards they deserve.

Snug Harbour was as snugly as it could be last week when I dined there with Tom Connors. Owner Frank Gallagher was proud to say the restaurant is bursting at the seams with diners. He never felt the pinch since the 911 terrorist attack. It might be Frank that the Rockawayites prefer to stay around home since the chaos. On my way in I met Clifford Marnick who was celebrating his 80th birthday and didn't look older than 59. He just had his birthday dinner with family and friends.

Kennedy's also is doing well even though winter is not their best season. They have live entertainment every weekend and perhaps that is what brings the people from all boroughs. You can still get a magnificent view of the City across the way …..now sans World Towers. Night or day it is a pleasurable view at Kennedy;s..
