Margaret M. De Mayo
Homemaker

Margaret M. De Mayo, born in Rockaway Beach, was a seven-year resident of Rockaway Park coming from Islip, New York. She died on February 1, 2002.

Margaret worshipped at St. Francis de Sales, and spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Calautti; her sons, Michael and Robert De Mayo; her sisters, Susan Kupper and Helen Wilson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. was held at St. Charles Cemetery.

Nicholas Jacob
Former Rockaway Native

Nicholas Jacob, 98, of Waterford, Ireland, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2002. He was a resident of the Rockaway area for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia and son-in-law Frank Grayson; Frances Bonet; Virginia and son-in-law Louis Adams; his grandchildren, Mark, Jean, Sean, Christopher, Tara, Harry, Louis and Charles; nine great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, in Cocoa, Florida.

Leona D. Johnson
Administrative Clerk

Leona D. Johnson, born in Widen West, Virginia, was a 36 year resident of the Rockaway area. She passed away on January 21, 2002 at the age of 54.

Leona worked as an administrative clerk for Costco Wholesale in Brooklyn.

She is survived by her son, Vinson Johnson; her daughter, Michelle Johnson; her mother, brothers, sisters and grandchildren.

Interment was held at Rosehill Cemetery, in New Jersey.

Joseph V. Piccirello
Clerk

Joseph V. Piccirello, a 15-year resident of the Bronx, was born and raised in the Far Rockaway area. He died on February 5, 2002 at his home due to heart complications. He was 44.

Joseph was a graduate of Far Rockaway High School, and would go on to work as a clerk for Duane Reade Pharmacies.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Joan (nee Sorenson) Piccirello.

He is survived by his sisters, Jo-Ann Porter and Valerie Wenk; and his brother, Scott Piccirello.

A special Memorial Mass will be held at a future date.

Interment under the direction of the Meserole Funeral Home, Inc. will be held at Rockville Cemetery, in Lynbrook.

Della (Donna) Rogers
Loved By Many

Della "Donna" Rogers was a long-time resident of Rockaway Beach who died on February 3, 2002. She was 75.

Della moved to Rockaway, from New York City, 35 years ago. She was a member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Paul Rogers; her sons, Charles Anthony and Paul Edward; her grandchildren, Laura, Pamela, Jessika, Michelle, Paul and Charles; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on the morning of February 8 at St. Camillus Church.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor, Inc. will be held at Long Island National Cemetery at Calverton.

Frances E. Santamore
Secretary

Frances E. Santamore, born in Braindsville, Vermont, was a 70 year resident of Rockaway Beach. She passed away on January 29, 2002.

Frances worshipped at St. Francis de Sale, and was employed as a secretary.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Howard Santamore.

She is survived by her nephews, Howard and William Santamore; her niece, Patricia Santamore; and her sister-in-law, Josephine Santamore.
