Ministerial Coalition Holds Stress Workshop

The Rockaway-Inwood Ministerial Coalition and the Eastern New York General Assembly of the Church of God recently sponsored a special workshop for clergy and lay leaders on "critical stress management." The workshop was held at the Battalion Pentecostal Assembly.

The training, hosted by Pastors Paul and David Cockfield, assisted the participants to meet the needs of their communities in the area of stress management.

Participants were trained to recognize and identify the signs and symptoms of critical stress and to assist their communities in dealing with that stress.

There were more than 150 participants, the majority from churches and other faith-based organizations.

Lighthouse, Inc., operated by Pastor Donald Ventura, was contracted to do the initial phase of the training, along with Pastor David Hartman from the Office of Emergency Management. The second phase of the training will take place on February 16, at the Agape Church of God on Springfield Boulevard in Jamaica.

"We realize the need for such workshops and for stress management services in the light of September 11 and the crash of flight 587," says Reverend Arthur Davenport, the president of the Ministerial Coalition.

"This will be an ongoing service to the Rockaway and Inwood communities.
