Local Students Named to Dean’s List

Levon E. Kololyan, son of Ms. Diane Kololyan, of Rockaway Park, was named on the Dean’s List for the fall 2001 semester at Clarkson University. Dean’s list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Clarkson University, founded in 1896, is an independent technological university offering majors in the sciences, engineering, liberal arts, physical therapy and business. At Clarkson 2,600 undergraduates and 350 graduate students learn in an academically rigorous, collaborative culture that emphasizes hands-on team projects and real-world multidisciplinary challenges. Many faculty members achieve international recognition for their scholarship and research, and teaching is a priority at every level. Charlee M. Benjamin of Far Rockaway has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall of 2001 semester at SUNY Oswego. Benjamin is a senior studying psychology at Oswego.

The president’s and Dean’s lists represent the academic top 23 percent of the Oswego student body. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the President’s list, the top 5 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the Dean’s list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.

Oswego is a 140-year-old comprehensive in the State University of New York system. It enrolls more than 8,000 students, the majority of them undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Education. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine listed Oswego among 100 best values in public Colleges and Universities again his year. Oswego appears in "America’s Best Colleges," the U.S. News and World Report college guide. Oswego is in the top half of U.S. News rankings for Northern Colleges.
